About Pigment Palette

Hello! I am a self-proclaimed watercolour enthusiast who developed a passion for pigments. My journey began years ago when I started investing in professional-grade watercolours. Like many artists, I quickly realized how easy it was to accidentally buy duplicate colors—especially with different brands naming the same pigments in various ways, or selling pre-mixed colors I could’ve made from tubes I already owned.

Curious and determined to get the most out of my collection, I started breaking down pigments and documenting everything in a detailed Google spreadsheet. This not only helped me stay organized but also deepened my understanding of watercolor composition, color mixing, and pigment performance.

Over time, I also became passionate about creating travel palettes—compact, curated sets of essential colors I could take on trips. These mini palettes challenged me to be selective and creative with limited choices, and I loved the freedom they gave me to paint anywhere, anytime.

That’s what inspired this website: a helpful resource for watercolour artists both students, professional or enthusiasts like myself to explore pigments, compare brands, and make more informed choices when building their own palettes—whether for studio work or travel. Think of it as your go-to watercolour pigment reference guide, born from years of trial, research, and a genuine love for the medium.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your own curated palette, I hope this site helps you get the most out of your watercolour journey.
